Recognition Is Important to Players

Rage Kicker, Matt Field, A Prior Game MVP, Post Game With Commissioner Rice

Story LineRecognition for an outstanding performances by a player adds greatly to the teams morale and spirit.  What better way to have the player share this recognition than immediatley at the end of the game when his family, friends and team fans can share the honor with him.  "Team owners that recognize their players

find that the team has greater morale than those that do not", noted the Commissioner.  Player of the Game recoginition may also include a photo and performance description on team web sites as well as publication in local newsapers.

Weekly, Commissioner Rice attends an SSFL game and participates in events scheduled by the team.  The MIB (Man In Black) travels over 10,000 miles per year attending SSFL pre-season, bowl and SSFL games.  Said Rice, " I arrive 90 minutes before a game and this gives me the opportunity to get to meet the team staff as they ready the facility, talk to some of the players before they begin warmups,

greet the coaching staffs and the officials crew.  During the coin toss, I challenge the team captains to exert their leadership and support the officials.  After that, I become a fan.  I visit the press box but prefer to sit in the stands where all the action is.  I try to be available to the team owners for whatever they ask me to do, such as present an award or meet important sponsors and fans.  My favorite part of my visit is getting to talk to players."
