SSFL Official Receives NCAA Position

Dr. Aaron West, SSFL Official Advances to the NCAA

Story Line:  Dr. Aaron West, a premier SSFL Hall of Fame official has been hired as an NCAA official. The SSFL wishes him continued success.  Not one to forget his roots, Dr. West stated, "In all truth, some of my SSFL officiating collegues and I talk about what an opportunity the SSFL is.  By working additional games in the SSFL using seven man mechanics, we gain literally one to two years edge over others who do not work SSFL each season we serve.  I am convinced that I would not have progressed as far as I am right now without the structure the SSFL provides or the opportunity that John Walters (SSFL Superviosr of Officials) has given me."

Who Will Be Next?

Farizzio Scaccia Or ?????

Story Line: Fabrizzio Scaccia, the multi talented place kicker of the Fire has been brought to the attention of the NFL by Commissioner Rice.  Said Rice, " Minor League Football is not easy to advance to the NFL.  Competing with the talented college players "coming out" and available every year is near impossible. It all begins is with personal contact with those individuals associated with the NFL who evaluate the recommendation as credible.  It's not just talent.  Other factors such as age, character and desire are factored in.  Fabrizzio is a player who has demonstrated particular talent at his position and has an excellent opportunity for a good look and evaluation.  We have been in contact with our associates in Sports Management in New York in conjunction with former NFL great, Chuck Muncie in California, who is involved in new talent.  On going communications continue and now that the NFL draft is completed, the next step will be undertaken shortly.  Good luck to Fabrizzio".

Quality Home Stadiums - A Feature of the SSFL

The Citrus Bowl & the SSFL Since 2004

The relationship between the Citrus Bowl and the SSFL began in 2004.  Team owners adopted the concept thatthe championship game be the leagues premier event of the year.  Providing the opportunity for players and coaches to experience participating in a major stadium with all of the amenities that major college and professional teams experience, was deemed to be a great way to end the season. Many players have indicated that being a part of that experience has been one of the highlights in their Minor League careers.

Playing in the Championship, honoring league All Star players, officials, ball boys, coaches and teams, is a great motivator for all to set goals for the next season.  For the ATTENDANCE RECORD BREAKING 2008 game, honoring the first class of SSFL Hall of Fame, it was an added attraction and provided the opportunity for Hall of Famers to renew old aquintances. They are the "Role Models" for this, and future generations of the SSFL.

The operational costs for the game are included in team dues as ticket sales in Minor League football would not provide adequate support.  Instead, it was decided that the game may be a good way to provide each league team the opportunity to earn income and increase fan attendance at the same time.  To that goal, in 2008, each team was provided unlimited game tickets which, if sold by the team all funds from teh sale reamined with the team.  At $10 per ticket, teams had the opportunity to significantly supplement their income for the year.  Motivated owners not only sold tickets but offered them to sponsors as a thanks for their support or raffled them off at home games.

Standards are a must for teams in the SSFL.  Maintaining publicized Standards guarantees that every team can expect similarities in facilities.  Although facilites may vary in some aspects, the quality of game stadiums according to Commissioner Rice is the best ever in the league.

Most recently, the Orlando Rage, in a move to a new facility, becomes the first SSFL team to play on "Pro Turf" at West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Florida.  Lawnwood Stadium, home for the Fort Pierce Fire, is without question a dominant game venue rivaling any minor league team in the country. The Sarasota Millonaires have upgraded their facility to Sarasota High School.  The annualSSFL Championship, played in the Florida Citrus Bowl has been an end of season highlight for players and coaches since the SSFL identified the game as its "premier event".

Stated Rice, "Quality stadiums attract quality players and fans.  Safe playing fields, excellent field lights, well lit and secure parking facilities, uniformed security, press box, PA system, play by play announcers, on field microphone for the referee, family oriented music and well equipped snack bars all contribute to the enjoyment of attending SSFL games. SSFL rules provide options, approved by the membershp to address particular facility issues encounterd by present and future league members."

SSFL Teams make every effort to bring competitive football, in a safe, family environment at an affordable price to their respective communities.
